Halloween & Autism… Make a Rompin’ Good Time!

We didn’t celebrate this Hallow’s Eve like the traditional trick-or-treaters.  As a chapter leader of an eco-friendly organization, I couldn’t conscionably stand at my door and pass out treats that were full of chemicals and goodness knows what else.  I also wasn’t about to break the bank passing out organic/natural treats.

So, my family and I headed over to The Castle located in Muskogee (You’re welcome to sing along if you like…).

This place is fantastic.

The Haunted Halloween Castle Festival is just one of the annual events held here. We didn’t participate in any of the frightful happenings; we kept to the family-friendly activities.  We really enjoyed ourselves.

Here’s my son having a great time riding the pony; his smile says it all.  Of course, the pony lady looked frightening!  {EEK!}

After the pony ride, we headed over to the Enchanted Boardwalk.  I’m thinkin’ they were tryin’ to be funny with the name, because this place was far from enchanting.  It was poorly lit and a little creepy.  Then again, you’d never know we were creeped out by this picture…

Or this one…

Or this one.  Okay… they do looked creeped out in this one.  I haven’t a clue as to what they were looking at since their eyes are going in opposite directions.

The following pictures are just a couple of the inflatables we saw on the boardwalk.  (The Castle is known for having some of the largest displays in the country.  Their Christmas Festival has as many as a thousand, and they’re looking to expand this year’s festival.  I know… huge energy zappers.  The good news?  This place isn’t open every day.)

This is Helga!  Isn’t she hot?  (S)he was totally trying to pick up my husband; he was kind and just laughed.  I nearly spotted my britches from laughing so hard.  This character was a scream (literally)!

During our travels, we came across two couples who had the greatest costumes.  I thought this couple was very original.  They reminded me of Interview with a Vampire when I saw them.  The way they carried themselves, you would have thought you had traveled back in time.  Fantastic!

I couldn’t help myself when I saw this couple.  The husband cracked me up!  I hope I made their night when I asked if I could take their picture.  I love original thinkers when it comes to Halloween.

The perfect end to our day came when we took the exit to our home.

Don’t hate!  😉
